Welcome to the Computer Science Department of the University of Puerto Rico Río Piedras!

We offer an excellent education with abundant research opportunities and strong career prospects, including well-paying and fulfilling jobs after graduation. Our students’ future is limited only by their dedication. We take pride in providing a well-balanced theoretical and applied education, equipping our students with numerous opportunities for success.

We are part of the College of Natural Sciences at the only campus in Puerto Rico classified as an R2: High Research Activity Institution by the Carnegie Foundation. This distinction allows our students to engage in interdisciplinary research and collaborate on cutting-edge projects throughout their studies.

Our department also offers a diverse selection of elective courses in areas such as cybersecurity, data science, machine learning, videogame design, computer networks, and bioinformatics, among others.
