The Minor Concentration in Cybersecurity is available to students majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Systems. To earn the minor, students must complete 9 additional course credits, which can be counted toward their Free Electives coursework. Students from other majors within the University of Puerto Rico system may also pursue the minor but must meet the prerequisites for the required courses.
Requirements:
- Enrollment: Must be a student at the University of Puerto Rico (any of its 11 campuses).
- Admission: Apply for the Minor in Cybersecurity through the Computer Science Department.
- Graduation: Submit a minor degree request at the Registrar’s Office before graduation.
- Course Requirements: Complete the following:
- Cybersecurity courses (both courses are required)
- Elective Course (choose one):
- CCOM 4702 – Reverse Engineering
- CCOM 4995 – Hardware Security
- CCOM 4995 – Digital Forensic Analysis

Minor concentrations are not conducive to a degree, so they do not appear on the diploma. However, they are recognized in the Cert. 44, 2019-2020, of the UPR Governing Board, and represent an initiative aimed at enriching the academic experience of our students.
