2013 NASA EPSCoR Competition

It is a pleasure to notify the PR Scientific Community about the 2013 NASA EPSCoR Competition (announcement number NNH13ZHA001C attached). This program provides up to $750,000 from NASA, and requires at least 50% of institutional match.  The specific objectives of NASA EPSCoR

are listed below:

  • Contribute to and promote the development of research capability in NASA EPSCoR jurisdictions in areas of strategic importance to the NASA mission;
  • Improve the capabilities of the NASA EPSCoR jurisdictions to gain support from sources outside the NASA EPSCoR program;
  • Develop partnerships among NASA research assets, academic institutions, and industry;
  • Contribute to the overall research infrastructure, science and technology capabilities, higher  education, and economic development of the jurisdiction; and
  • Work in close coordination with the Space Grant consortium in the jurisdiction to improve the environment for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.

As directed by NASA, the PR NASA EPSCoR Director, Dr. Gerardo Morell, will be the Managing PI of the proposal, which will be submitted via NSPIRES through the UPR Resource Center for Science and Engineering. Each jurisdiction can submit no more than ONE proposal.

Interested research teams are invited to submit pre-proposals to the PR NASA EPSCoR office.  The pre-proposals will be sent for external review to determine the best candidate to be developed into a full-fledged proposal.  The pre-proposals must contain the following information:

1. Cover Page

a. Project Title

b. Research PI: name, affiliation, contact information

c. Co-investigators: names and affiliations

d. Collaborating NASA Center(s) and point(s) of contact

2. Project Summary

3. Goals, Objectives, and Anticipated Results

4. Relevance to, Partnerships with, and Interactions with NASA

5. Relevance to, Partnerships with, and Interactions with the Jurisdiction

6. Preliminary Budget Summary

7. Curriculum Vitae of PI and Co-Is

Submission: Pre-proposals are due by 4:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2013.

Hardcopies and email files are accepted. (Electronic files must be named with the full name of the research PI.)
