This is a two-part talk on the application of Quantum Mechanics to the calculations of electronic structure of molecules.

In this series of talks Professor Selsby will give an overview of this field from the point of view of his own insights. The first part is a colloquium targeted to a non-specialized and generalaudience including undergraduate students. The second part is a more detailed seminar addressed to students, graduate and/or undergraduate, who want to pursue the subject in more detail.
