The Chemistry Graduate Program of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus was established in the 1960s with the creation of an academic program leading to a master’s degree in Chemistry. This was followed by the creation in 1970 of a Ph. D. program in Chemistry and the development in 1981 of a collaborative program with the Department of Physics, leading to a Ph. D. program in Chemical Physics. Currently, the Graduate Program has approximately 112 students proceeding from universities in Puerto Rico and abroad.
