RENEW-AR-UPRRP Fellowship

We are pleased to announce graduate and undergraduate fellowships sponsored by Reaching a New Energy Sciences Workforce Through Atmospheric Research at The University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras (RENEW-AR-UPRRP), a partnership between UPR Rio Piedras and DOE’s Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and Argonne National Laboratory (ANL). Fellows will engage in a two-year program concurrent and integrated with their bachelor’s or graduate studies to receive experiential training and mentoring in atmospheric and aerosol research. During this experience, fellows will participate in two summer internships and two academic year cycles where they will engage in mentored research, courses and extracurricular activities to advance their scientific skills, explore atmospheric research careers, develop self-confidence in independent research and communication skills and form long-lasting relationships with local and US scientists.

Who should apply?

The Undergraduate Fellowships are restricted to Natural Sciences students with preference given to second-year students and above pursuing a bachelor’s degree (or a minor) in Environmental Sciences, and to students that have taken the course CINA 4077 (Air Resources).  Graduate Fellowships are restricted to students enrolled in the Environmental Sciences Program.  Most accepted applicants will have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Requirements:

Applicants are required to have one letter of recommendation from a course or research faculty (advisors for graduate applicants) submitted on their behalf and a copy of their transcript or their student evaluation. Following an initial selection, potential applicants will be interviewed. Applicants must be either a US Citizen, US National or a US permanent resident. Graduating seniors are not eligible for this program.

By committing to the fellowship, students agree to participate in all required activities of the program.
