Short Bio

My name is Arelys López Pérez. I am from Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. I majored in Environmental Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, and I’m currently working in the Chiquillo Lab, which focuses on Molecular Ecology. As part of this lab, I will be studying gene expression in the native seagrass Thalassia testudinum under herbivory pressure. In the future, I plan to apply to graduate school in Marine Ecology and/or Wildlife Conservation. During that time, I also hope to travel to dream destinations like Costa Rica and Tokyo—or go on dive trips to the Maldives and across the Pacific Ocean.

A fun fact or hobby: A fun fact about me is that I’m a diver and absolutely love sea slugs and nudibranchs.
