Welcome Class 3 of RaMP-UP!

The third class of RaMP-UP has been selected by Dr. José Garcia and Dr. Juan Ramírez after an extensive evaluation and interview process of applicants. The post-baccalaureate students chosen to join the new cohort were notably recognized for their strong drive and passion for science and research. Students from a variety of academic institutions in the United States and Puerto Rico form the core of this class. 

The following students were selected to participate in the research program:

Adrián E. Quintana González, who obtained his bachelor’s degree at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus, and will be working alongside mentor Dr. Alfredo Ghezzi  

Alexander Y. Ortiz Rivera, who obtained his bachelor’s degree at the University of Puerto Rico, Cayey campus, and will be working alongside mentor Dr. Trevor Fristoe 

Arelys D. López Pérez, who obtained her bachelor’s degree at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus, and will be working alongside mentor Dr. Kelcie Chiquillo 

Cooper D. Malone, who obtained his bachelor’s degree at Grinnel College, and will be working alongside mentor Dr. José A. Rodríguez  Martínez  

Elizabeth de la Torre, who obtained her bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois Urbana Champagne, and will be working alongside mentor Dr. Paul Bayman 

Haley Arbon, who obtained her bachelor’s degree at Fordham University, and will be working alongside mentor Dr. Tugrul Giray

Isabelle Pillow, who obtained her bachelor’s degree at Virginia Commonwealth University, and will be working alongside mentor Dr. Carla Restrepo 
Julián A. Soto Pérez, who obtained his bachelor’s degree at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus, and will be working alongside mentor Dr. Ricardo Papa 

Matthew Luchs, who obtained his bachelor’s degree at William & Mary, in Williamsburg, Virginia, and will be working alongside mentor Dr. José E. García-Arrarás 

Melvin O. Pagán Figueroa, who obtained his bachelor’s degree at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus, and will be working alongside mentor Dr. Imilce Rodriguez-Fernandez 

Nathalie N. Torres Serrano who obtained her bachelor’s degree at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, and will be working alongside mentor Dr. Esther Peterson
