The IDGeNe focus is on the research experience. Nonetheless, to assure that all scholars acquire the theoretical and technical basics needed to work in genomic research we will require participants to complete the following courses:

This course focuses on the exploratory analysis of data using “R”. The course topics include Probability Theory, Correlation and Regression, Hypothesis Testing, and others. It is computer based and students participate in programming projects where the course topics are applied.

This course provides a panoramic view of Computer Science through various areas of specialization (e.g. data bases, operating systems, networks, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics). It presents foundations from which one can appreciate the relevance and the interrelation among different subjects of Computer Science. The course also introduces skills related to problem solving and general concepts of concurrent programming.

The main objective of the course is to explore the application of bioinformatics to a wide range of biological processes or systems questions. The course will provide students with the understanding of the tools and principles of bioinformatics for the analysis of biological data and its application in research, both pure and applied, with an emphasis on biomedical research. Emphasis is given on genomics, including comparative genomics and metagenomics. 

Scholars are invited to take additional courses, depending on their areas of interest. Many courses are available at the undergraduate (levels 3000-4000) or advanced undergraduate/graduate level (levels 5000-6000) for students in the Faculty of Natural Sciences. Among these:
