The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) requires all accredited programs in dietetics to have a formal learning assessment plan. The learning assessment plan is used to evidence student acquisition of required knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to become successful registered dietitians. Also, the plan helps identify areas of strength and weakness to assist the Program in the continued betterment and revision of the curriculum. Students should become familiar with this process while in the Program and may be asked to help identify ways to better assess the learning process. The Program has to complement ACEND’s learning assessment plan with the Institution’s learning assessment requirements and activities stipulated by the Office of Student Learning Evaluation.
