Ph.D. student Miguel José Costas-Sabatier recently attended the 143rd Annual meeting of the American Ornithological Society in St. Louis, MO and received the A. Brazier Howell Award for the best student presentation in any topic in ornithology. The poster entitled “Habitat structure and biodiversity drive the biogeography of community songscape across North America” used large datasets and computational power to reveal the importance of habitat structure in determining the “distribution” of songs throughout the United States. This recognition came with a $500 prize.
