The Puerto Rico Science, Technology, and Research Trust, recently awarded two Catalyzer Research Grants to our colleagues Imilce De los Angeles Rodríguez Fernández and Carla Restrepo. Dr. Rodríguez will use the funds to study the role of the gut microbiome on the gut-brain axis in fruit flies. Dr. Restrepo and graduate student Yakshi Ortiz in collaboration with Dr. Filipa Godoy, Dr. Natalya Chorna and Dr. Humberto Ortiz will use the funds to examine the functioning of soil and root microbiomes in landslide areas.
