This project made possible through a grant from the USDA  Forest Service. This page was developed with funding from The Wood Innovations Program (Grant Number: 19-DG-11120107-33) to The University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras (PI: Elvia Meléndez-Ackerman), CoPIs (Jess Zimmerman-UPR-Río Piedras; and Luis Santiago-University of Central Florida)

The grant has two main goals: 1)  to generate accessible tools and resources that can be used by local stakeholders and 2) to promote sustainable and financially viable forestry activities that promote the economic health of local communities in the island of Puerto Rico taking advantage of the scientific and social-capital available on the island while reducing the costs of forest management on all land types.

Nuestro proyecto tiene dos objetivos principales: 1) generar herramientas y recursos accesibles que puedan ser utilizados por los interesados locales y 2) promover actividades forestales sostenibles y financieramente viables que fomenten la salud económica de las comunidades locales en la isla de Puerto Rico aprovechando el capital científico y social disponible en la isla y reduciendo al mismo tiempo los costos de la ordenación forestal en todo tipo de tierras.
