The University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras Animal Resources Facility (UPR-RP ARF) supports institutional research and training programs by administering all of the laboratory animal services on the UPR-RP campus. UPR-RP ARF personnel provide the following services: humane and scientifically appropriate care for all research animals on the UPR-RP campus in compliance with the United States Public Health Service; training in animal-use procedures; assistance with the purchase of research animals and animal care supplies and equipment; diagnostic, therapeutic and prophylactic veterinary services; consultation on care for all research animals in experimental protocols and animal research methods; and support to the UPR-RP Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
