My name is Daril\u00eds Mart\u00ednez Torres<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>and I\u2019m from San Germ\u00e1n, Puerto Rico.<\/span> I graduated from \u201cEl Colegio<\/span>\u201d,<\/span> University of Puerto Rico, Mayag\u00fcez Campus, with a BS in Biology and 2 curricular sequences: Conservation and Management of Natural Resources, and Sociology and Environmental Public Policy.<\/span><\/span> <\/span>I\u2019m working with Dr. Paun Bayman under the Research and Mentoring for a Postbaccalaureate in Biological Sciences (RaMP-UP) postbaccalaureate program. I am working with a coffee pest, the coffee leaf miner, trying to describe the damage it causes to coffee leaves and its severity and incidence. Additionally, I am collecting and <\/span>identifying<\/span> the survival of the larvae in different farms around Puerto Rico. I plan to compare the data obtained within conditions such as environmental variables, year of collected data, season (dry or wet), coffee variety, and study site.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A fun fact or hobby: <\/b>I am a nature lover, and every year I like to do at least one new different, and <\/span>somewhat extreme<\/span> outdoor activity. <\/span>I\u2019ve<\/span> managed to go camping, snorkeling, discover <\/span>new places<\/span> for hiking, ride ziplines (including the longest at Toro Verde), go paragliding, skydive, ski, and soon I will swim with sharks.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
