Project title: Aestivation in Biomphalaria glabrata: Central Nervous System Mechanisms and Adaptations.
Project Description: My research focuses on understanding the central nervous system mechanisms underlying aestivation in Biomphalaria glabrata, a freshwater snail capable of entering a dormant state to withstand unfavorable environmental conditions. By investigating neural circuits and molecular pathways involved in this process, I aim to uncover how the nervous system regulates extended periods of inactivity and metabolic suppression.
