Welcome to the Department of Environmental Sciences at UPR Rio Piedras. Our aim is to apply an integrated, quantitative and interdisciplinary focus to the study of natural and human systems and provide the student with the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully advance in an academic, industrial or government setting. Our program encompasses disciplines from both the physical sciences (e. g., biology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, geology and engineering) as well as the social sciences (e. g., public health, sociology, economics, geography, public policy, education and planning).
