Nicolau L\u00f3pez<\/span><\/h2><p>El Dr. Eduardo L. Nicolau L\u00f3pez es natural de San Juan, Puerto Rico. El Dr. Nicolau finaliz\u00f3 en el 2005 su bachillerato en Qu\u00edmica y Ciencias Ambientales en la Universidad de Puerto Rico Recinto de R\u00edo Piedras y completo su Ph.D. en Qu\u00edmica Anal\u00edtica en la misma instituci\u00f3n en el 2012. En el 2014 realiz\u00f3 una estancia postdoctoral en la Universidad de Puerto Rico y el Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n Ames de NASA. Al Dr. Nicolau se le han otorgado diferentes reconocimientos entre los que se encuentra la beca predoctoral Harriet Jenkins de NASA de 2011-2012, beca de Proyecto de investigadores de estudiantes graduados de NASA (GSRP) de 2008-2011, 1<sup>er<\/sup> lugar en el Concurso de poster estudiantiles de la Conferencia de ciencia lunar de NASA, California en el 2008, Premio de viaje de posgrado de Pfizer en 2008, Premio al Mejor poster en la 7<sup>ma<\/sup> Conferencia Anual de Investigaci\u00f3n Estudiantil de Arizona y 2<sup>do<\/sup> lugar en la categor\u00eda de posgrado en el 2007, Ayudant\u00eda de Investigaci\u00f3n del Centro de Materiales a Nanoescala de NASA en el 2007, beca de Pregrado del Programa de Honores para el Acceso de las Minor\u00edas a las Carreras de Investigaci\u00f3n en el 2004, Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n de NASA beca de pregrado en materiales a nanoescala en el 2003, Lista de decanos de 2000-2003, Primer lugar en las Olimpiadas acad\u00e9micas en el 2001. El Dr. Nicolau ha ense\u00f1ado algunos cursos que incluyen Qu\u00edmica Anal\u00edtica, Biomateriales, Qu\u00edmica General, An\u00e1lisis Instrumental, Calidad y Recursos del Agua, Laboratorio de Qu\u00edmica General I y II. Actualmente, el Dr. Nicolau es el Director Ejecutivo Interino del Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n de Ciencias Moleculares de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (CICiM), Presidente, Fundador, Investigador y Desarrollo de NiM2 Solutions, Inc., es Profesor Asociado del programa de Qu\u00edmica de la Universidad de Puerto Rico Recinto de R\u00edo Piedras y es colaborador del Centro de Recursos de CAHREUS. El Dr. Nicolau con sus proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n tiene inter\u00e9s en el estudio de la Qu\u00edmica Anal\u00edtica para la comprensi\u00f3n de la interacci\u00f3n entre nanomateriales y biomacromol\u00e9culas para aplicaciones en el medio ambiente. En el \u00e1rea de Qu\u00edmica Ambiental se especializa en el desarrollo de innovadoras membranas de \u00f3smosis directa reactivas y receptivas para la recuperaci\u00f3n de agua; preparaci\u00f3n y modificaci\u00f3n de la qu\u00edmica superficial de membranas de \u00f3smosis de reenv\u00edo para alterar la adhesi\u00f3n de contaminantes org\u00e1nicos y biol\u00f3gicos y determinaci\u00f3n anal\u00edtica y remediaci\u00f3n de contaminantes emergentes en aguas residuales; y en el \u00e1rea Biom\u00e9dica en la preparaci\u00f3n y evaluaci\u00f3n biol\u00f3gica de recubrimientos polim\u00e9ricos biocompatibles para ingenier\u00eda de tejido \u00f3seo y cuantificaci\u00f3n anal\u00edtica de metabolitos a trav\u00e9s de construcciones basadas en apt\u00e1meros.<\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Researcher: <\/strong>Dr. Eduardo L. Nicolau L\u00f3pez<\/span><\/h2><p>Dr. Eduardo L. Nicolau L\u00f3pez is native of San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 2005, Dr. Nicolau completed his bachelor&#8217;s degree in Chemistry and Environmental Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico R\u00edo Piedras Campus and completed his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry at the same institution in 2012. In 2014 he did a postdoctoral stay at the University of Puerto Rico and the NASA Ames Research Center. Dr. Nicolau has been awarded a number of awards including the NASA Harriet Jenkins Pre-Doctoral Fellowship in 2011-2012, NASA Graduate Student Researchers Project (GSRP) Fellowship in 2008-2011, 1<sup>st<\/sup> place at the NASA Lunar Science Conference Student Poster Competition, California in 2008, Pfizer Graduate Travel Award in 2008, Best Poster Award at the Arizona 7<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Student Research Conference and 2<sup>nd<\/sup> place the graduate category in 2007, NASA\u2019s Center for Nanoscale Materials Research Assistantship in 2007, Minority Access to Research Careers Honors Program Undergraduate Fellowship in 2004, NASA\u2019s Center for Nanoscale Materials Undergraduate Fellowship in 2003, Deans List in 2000-2003, Academic Olympics First Place in 2001. Dr. Nicolau has taught some courses including Analytical Chemistry, Biomaterial, General Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, Water Quality and Resources, General Chemistry Laboratory I and II. Currently, Dr. Nicolau is the Acting Executive Director of the Molecular Sciences Research Center of the University of Puerto Rico (MSRC), NiM2 Solutions, Inc. President and Founder, Research and Development, is Associate Professor of the Chemistry program of the University of Puerto Rico R\u00edo Piedras Campus, and is a collaborator of the CAHREUS Resource Center. Dr. Nicolau with his research projects is interested in the study of Analytical Chemistry for the understanding of the interaction between nanomaterials and biomacromolecules for applications in the environment.
