Admissions
Readmission
To be eligible for readmission to the College of Natural Sciences, a student must have a minimum GPA of 2.00
Reclassification
In order to reclassify to the College of Natural Sciences, students of other faculties should comply with the following requirements:
- To have passed four (4) of the following courses:
- English I-II
- Spanish I-II
- Social Sciences I-II
- Biological Sciences I-II
- Physical Sciences I-II
- Humanities I-II
- Overall minimum GPA of 2.50
- Average minimum GPA in Sciences and Mathematical of 2.50 (MATH 3001 does not count for Natural Sciences students and is not considered for this computation.)
- To have passed the following Mathematics courses:
- Precalculus (MATH 3023 & 3024, or MATH 3018)
- Calculus I (MATH 3151)
- To have passed two of the following courses:
- General Biology (BIOL 3101 and BIOL 3102)
- General Physics (PHYS 3011, PHYS 3012, PHYS 3013, and PHYS 3014)
- General Chemistry (CHEM 3001 and CHEM 3002)
Students from outside the University of Puerto Rico system
To be able to transfer from a private university to the College of Natural Sciences of the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras, the student should comply with the following requirements:
- Have a minimum of 30 credits passed of which the GPA is 3.00 or higher. These 30 credits should include four of the following courses or their equivalents:
- English I-II
- Spanish I-II
- Social sciences I-II
- Biological sciences I-II
- Physical sciences I-II
- Humanities I-II
- Have passed the following courses in Mathematics or their equivalents:
- Pre-Calculus (MATH 3023 & 3024, or MATH 3018)
- Calculus I (MATH 3151 or its equivalent)
- Have passed 2 of the following courses or their equivalents:
- General Biology (BIOL 3101 & 3102)
- General Chemistry (CHEM 3001 & 3002)
- General Physics (PHYS 3011, 3012, 3013, and 3014)
- Have a GPA of 2.75 or higher in courses in Science and Mathematics
Transfer students
To be able to transfer to the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras from another unit of the University of Puerto Rico system, the student should meet the following requirements:
- Have passed or pending a minimum of 48 credits prior to the transfer. These credits should include four of the following basic courses:
- English I & II
- Spanish I & II
- Social Sciences I & II
- Biological Sciences I & II
- Physical Sciences I & II
- Humanities I & II
- Have an overall minimum GPA of 3.00
- Have a minimum GPA in Sciences and Mathematics of 2.75
- Have passed the following course in Mathematics or its equivalent:
- Precalculus (MATH 3023 & 3024, or MATH 3018)
- Calculus I (MATH 3151)
- Have passed two f the following courses or their equivalents:
- General Biology (BIOL 3101 & 3102)
- General Physics (PHYS 3011, 3012, 3013, and 3014)
