Nutrition and Dietetics Program Student, Juan Luis Cruz Colón, wins recognition for his essay “Agriculture as a Career” and attends the 2011 USDA Agricultural Forum Diversity Program

Juan Luis Cruz Colón, estudiante en su último año del Programa de Nutrición y Dietética, has sido seleccionado por su ensayo de Agricultura Como Carrera, para asistir el 2011 USDA Agricultural Outlook Forum Diversity Program in el área de Washington D.C., el 22-25 de febrero de 2011.  El Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel, Arlington, Virginia, será la sede del evento donde los estudiantes recibirán orientaciones sobre oportunidades de internados y carreras en el Departamento de Agricultura.  Visitarán también el Henry A. Wallace USDA Beltsville Agricultural Research Center para aprender sobre investigaciones y tendencias actuales en agricultura, donde evaluación nutricional y seguridad de alimentos son temas activos de investigación. El programa, USDA Outlook Forum Diversity Program, educa a entre 20 - 25 estudiantes sobre negocios en agricultura, las últimas investigaciones, tendencias futuras y la política de agricultura contemporánea.

Juan Luis Cruz Colón, senior in the Nutrition and Dietetics Program, has been selected for his essay on Agriculture as a Career, to attend the 2011 Agricultural Outlook Forum Diversity Program in the Washington D.C. area, on February 24-25, 2011. The Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel in Arlington, Virginia, will be the main venue for the event. USDA’s World Agricultural Outlook Board and National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) will host an introductory briefing featuring agencies participating in the Forum on February 22 and a discussion of USDA internships and career opportunities. On Wednesday the students will visit USDA’s Henry A. Wallace Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, where dietary assessment and food safety are active research areas. The USDA Outlook Forum Diversity Program benefits all parties involved and promotes diverse participation that educates 20 – 25 baccalaureate students about agribusiness, the latest research, future trends, and policy in contemporary agriculture.
