Diversity Research Opportunity for Faculty & Students - Sustainable Horizons Institute

10/13/ 2016

We are pleased to announce that the Sustainable Research Pathways Workshop launched in 2015, will be expanded in 2016 to include two additional National Laboratories.  The workshop is designed for faculty from a variety of institutions, including Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) and women’s and community colleges that support students from underrepresented or under-privileged backgrounds. The workshop will provide an opportunity for faculty to learn about potential research collaborations and opportunities for faculty and/or students to conduct research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, or Sandia National Laboratory in the summer of 2017.

To facilitate the matching of faculty and their students to Lab research opportunities, selected faculty will be invited to a workshop at Berkeley Lab on December 6-7, 2016.  Computing sciences staff will discuss their research projects and interests.  Invited faculty will present their work during a poster blitz and poster session.  Ample time will be provided for further discussions to explore potential research collaborations and sponsored programs.

The application deadline is: Friday, October 21, 2016

It is a great opportunity for faculty to develop research collaborations with staff scientists at one of three Department of Energy National Labs. Faculty and their students receive great benefits.

Research areas are listed in the following flyer and focus on computing, computational science and engineering, applied mathematics, and related areas.
